Weidong Tong China

Weidong Tong is a professor of violin, doctoral and master's supervisor at the Central Conservatory of Music Beijing. He serves as Executive Vice President of the Strings Society under the Chinese Musicians' Association. Prof. Tong has been Artistic Director for several prestigious events, including the 2012 Yehudi Menuhin Competition and the Central Conservatory of Music International Violin Festival since 2014.

 

Recognized as one of China's most distinguished violin professors, his students have won numerous national and international competitions. Weidong has served as a juror for prestigious competitions worldwide, including the Joseph Joachim Competition Hannover, Leopold Mozart Competition in Augsburg, the Secretary General of the Qingdao Violin Competition, and the President of the Hong Kong International Violin Competition.

 

He has been invited to give master classes at renowned institutions such as the Royal Academy of Music and the Yehudi Menuhin School. His achievements include winning prizes at the 2nd China Youth Violin Competition (1984), receiving a DAAD scholarship in 1996, and winning the 2nd Prize of the Beijing Education Achievements (Higher Education) in 2008.
