Violinist Hyuna Kim gained attention at age 10 with a performance of Mendelssohn’s concerto with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. At 12, she moved to the U.S. to study with Aaron Rosand, graduating from Curtis Institute of Music, then earning a master’s degree and Artist Diploma from Juilliard under Glenn Dicterow, and a doctorate from the State University of New York.
Recognized for her skill with awards including the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition, Kim has performed with top orchestras such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. She is celebrated for her broad repertoire and clear tone, receiving acclaim for numerous solo and chamber performances. Her successful recitals at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Suntory Hall reflect her international acclaim, and she remains active in Asia, Europe, and the U.S.
Kim has also served as a juror for major competitions like the Ilona Fehér Violin Competition in Budapest, Postacchini Competition in Italy, and Seoul International Music Competition. She plays a 1737 Stradivarius 'Comte d'Armaille' and is a professor at Yonsei University.
