Violinist Martin Beaver has enjoyed a multifaceted career as a soloist, chamber musician, and pedagogue. As First Violin of the renowned Tokyo String Quartet from 2002 to 2013, he has performed internationally with orchestras such as the San Francisco Symphony, l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège, and the Sapporo Symphony, under the baton of conductors including Kazuyoshi Akiyama, Gilbert Varga, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. His chamber music collaborations include distinguished artists such as Pinchas Zukerman, Sabine Meyer, and Yefim Bronfman.
Mr. Beaver’s mentors include Victor Danchenko, Josef Gingold, and Henryk Szeryng. A laureate of the Queen Elisabeth, Montreal, and Indianapolis competitions, he has subsequently served as a juror for major international competitions, including the Queen Elisabeth and Osaka International Chamber Music competitions.
A dedicated educator, Mr. Beaver has held teaching positions at the University of British Columbia, the Peabody Conservatory, and most recently, as Artist in Residence at the Yale School of Music. He currently teaches violin and chamber music at the Colburn School in Los Angeles.
