Romanian-born Mihaela Martin is one of the most outstanding violin virtuosos of her generation, known for her versatile musical expression. Her gold medal at the Indianapolis Violin Competition launched her international career, following successes in other prestigious competitions.
Martin excels as both a soloist and chamber musician. Her 2023-24 season includes performances with renowned orchestras and appearances at major festivals worldwide. She has collaborated with top orchestras like the BBC Symphony and Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, under conductors such as Manfred Honeck, Paavo Järvi, Kurt Masur, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, and Charles Dutoit.
Chamber music plays a crucial role in Martin's career. She co-founded the Michelangelo String Quartet, performing in prestigious venues globally. Since 2017, she has been the artistic director of the Rolandseck/Bad Honnef Chamber Music Festival and frequently collaborates with esteemed musicians.
Martin is a professor at the University of Music in Cologne, the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin, and the Kronberg Academy. She gives masterclasses worldwide and serves as a jury member for major international competitions. Martin performs on a 1748 J.B. Guadagnini violin.
